A Gettysburg institution since 1955 — a vintage stainless steel diner on Carlisle St that's been feeding locals, tourists, and Gettysburg College students for over 60 years. Award-winning breakfast served all day, fresh-baked pies and desserts from the on-site bakery, and daily lunch and dinner specials. Very affordable, very consistent, and exactly what a diner should be. Open daily 7am–9pm.

Gettysburg might be the best tournament backdrop of the season. The entire town is essentially a living history museum — even if you're just passing through, it's worth an extra hour.
Gettysburg National Military Park
Free to access. The park is massive and you can drive or bike the auto tour route at your own pace. Stop at Little Round Top for the view, walk through Devil's Den, and swing by the Eternal Peace Light Memorial. The Visitor Center has a great museum and a cyclorama painting of Pickett's Charge. Allow 2–3 hours minimum for the full experience.
Devil's Den
One of the most iconic spots on the battlefield — a jumble of boulders where Confederate sharpshooters held out on Day 2. Free to visit, open 6am–8pm. Kids can scramble on the rocks, and the whole area is genuinely dramatic. Easy 10-minute stop, worth it every time.
Sachs Covered Bridge
A beautiful 1852 covered bridge about 10 minutes west of town. Confederate troops retreated across it after the battle. Free, open 24 hours, with a small walking trail along the creek. A genuinely peaceful spot and a great photo stop.
Children of Gettysburg 1863
A hands-on, interactive history museum on Baltimore St designed specifically for kids — follows the stories of real children who lived in Gettysburg during the battle. Staff are enthusiastic and great with kids. Open daily 10am–6pm. Around $10/adult; kids under 6 free. Highly recommended if you have younger siblings in tow.
Ghostly Images of Gettysburg
Walking ghost tours of the Orphanage, Jennie Wade House, and other historic sites. Evening tours run Friday–Sunday until 10:30pm. The guides are genuinely good — theatrical, knowledgeable, and great with kids who are into the spooky stuff. Book ahead on weekends.
Shriver House Museum
An intimate guided tour of a civilian home that was occupied by both armies during the battle. The guides are exceptional — some of the best historical storytelling in town. Open daily 10am–5pm. Reservations recommended. Tickets around $10/person.
